Finding Your Shoreline

There’s a calm that comes from letting the tide guide you. Here’s how I found mine.

Keith and I were halfway through our usual beach walk when we had one of those “differences of opinion” (argument is too strong of a word for the molehill that I turned into the mountain!). You know the ones that start over something small yet somehow (usually only in our minds) feel… not small.

He walked ahead.

I trailed behind, kicking at the sand like a stubborn five-year-old.

Somewhere between my irritation and the sound of the waves, something shifted.

The ocean has a funny way of doing that.

It doesn’t solve your problems. But if you listen long enough, it quiets the noise in your head.

That moment was my shoreline.

Looking back, the tides had been moving for a while.
Retirement.
A trip to Ireland.
Deciding it was finally okay to spend a little more time on things that filled my cup instead of everyone else’s.

Somewhere along the way I also discovered something unexpected — artificial intelligence.

What started as curiosity quickly turned into the most patient brainstorming partner I’ve ever had.

It never rolls its eyes when I say “wait… I have another idea.”

Maybe finding your shoreline isn’t about a place.

Maybe it’s about the moment when all the noise quiets just enough for you to realize what direction the tide has been pulling you all along.

Until next time, may a small wave of inspiration find you.
